I don't care what you can sense. You had one little setback with the Emperor so you just gave up on the galaxy and retired to your mud hut, eating soup, and getting fat and lazy. A farmboy with a few days of jedi boot camp almost defeated Darth Vader -- I'm pretty sure you could have turned Vader (and his top generals / admirals) into mince meat and sent their body parts in baskets to the Emperor. No it's alright... you just chill out by the fire.
