A longtime supporter I feel the Arizona proposal and the general renewable agenda in the US bode well for EVM at long last despite global financial pessimism that could go on for a long time. However, despite EVM having some good backers and partners in tow I have concerns about the company's structure and capacity to get this over the line.
According to the website, all we have on the board are two directors: the venerable Roger and a (albeit notable) criminal lawyer, which I sincerely trust does not turn out to be a prophetic choice. On the executive side we have a spin doctor, a son and an outsourced Company Secretary. I have no complaints at all about any of them but it could be perceived as somewhat lack lustre by financiers being asked to stump-up a lazy $750mil for a technically challenging proposal and possibly expose the company to conditional appointments, restructuring or even takeover. I believe the time has come to ramp up the diversity, expertise, competence, independence etc of the board or potentially risk letting the best opportunity we have had slip away. At the very least such a move should be planned for.
