Don't be too quick to think MEL is in the clear. The opposition up there whilst nowhere near the levels they claim, are well organised and know how to spread fear and misinformation. They will again test the Government's appetite for violence appearing on the 6.00pm news and it will repeat all over again unless things are done differently. PH needs to start with MEL fund a speaking tour by a credible non industry aligned expert who can debunk the myths perpetrated by Gaslands. That "movie" seems to have been the catalyst. The moderates and fence sitters need to be turned leaving the rump that would say no to anything.

Thus far MEL and the industry have not moved effectively into the propaganda space and its simply been skillfully filled by those who oppose. It certainly doesn't help when videos appear on Youtube of MEL's leaky wellheads and water overflowing, but PH with a better field crew on board should be able to keep that in check. You can't however rule out sabotage though and it has happened and will again particularly when operations are going well. That's in their playbook. I believe if well regulated and monitored, MEL can be a model for how it can be done in sympathy with the surrounding land. It's all on the shoulders of PH. These comments apply only to non CSG operations.
