"The optical probe of the Cellvizio system was developed for gastrointestinal imaging [8] and was not suitable for head and neck imaging. The flexibility of the probe greatly limited the precise positioning of the probe on the margins of vocal folds tumors. To improve positioning of the probe during panendoscopy, we stabilized the probe with a cystoscope combined with an Albarran lever. Despite this, the poor quality of a quarter of the zones imaged from the vocal folds rendered them uninterpretable by the pathologists."


"For the oral cavity, zones imaged from the ventral surface of the tongue and the floor of the mouth were difficult to record. Due to the softness of the tissue, it was difficult to maintain adequate contact between the probe and the mucosa during video acquisition."

Another issue was the inadequate training/skills of the 'user', which I guess will also be an issue for Optiscan's Invivage.
