I concur, the underlaying demand will win out in the end just like it did with Iron Ore in the mid part of 2021 !
What I have found rather interesting over the past 1-2 months has been observing how the contract sales price for Battery Grade Carbonate + Hydroxide has been catching up to the spot price both within China and Abroad. The below 2 images are both measures of the spot market showing prices in the US$75-78/kg range which have been flat the past few weeks.
In comparison the below image shows the Contract Price for battery grade carbonate (Currently US$65/kg) which has slowly but surely narrowed the gap between spot and contract. This bodes extremely well for the industry in general and shows that current producers will be receiving decent margins today on existing contracts.
I look forward to reading the quarterly updates in about 2 weeks time of the current lithium producers, as well as their forecasts for the current quarter
