Within the basin there are localised "intrabasin" deposits, normally created by the tectonic faults and subsurface structures. Given we have quite a thick resource(refer the drilling assays), it is able to provide an economical and viable resource to exploit, don't worry, trust the Geos
In summary, it's not like one huge swimming pool beneath the surface. They are a collection of basins. I think @bombersmadd touched on this concept earlier as well.
