I can't see any government ban on shorting being only applied to 'some' companies or industries as that entirely contravenes discrimination legislation and would be open to legal action. It's a case of all or nothing imo! Also, GS appears to have used shorters or the concept to her own recent advantage with LTR and other stocks, so why would she now push for practice to be banned (even though a ban would certainly boost the value of her huge holdings)?
