I'll add to this, the brines are also unreliable sources because of different weather events and the time periods to ramp up or down productions isn't simple. The lithium brines rely on the sun's evaporation in order to produce a cheap product, if it rains too much or there are temperature changes it affects their product production. China battery production companies have already invested in a few Aussie lithium mines, so there's no doubt in my mind that the Aussie spodumene is well sought after by the Chinese.
