Thank you for comment, I see volatile exchange rate caused by many factors, eg aud is a freely traded carry currency so what I was trying to do is to exclude currency movements to identify what is the trend in the gold price. I was looking for a quick solution, maybe swiss franc is a rough & ready answer.
No doubt, there's someone on HC who knows where to find POG charts that show movement in real terms ie excluding inflation & currency movement, in aud terms
