Since it relates to REE production my comments are that the ALK demonstration plant has been under test since 2008. My understanding was that problems existed with contamination of the primary product and maintaining longer term operation. The commercial success rate of non standard process flow sheets is not high as they are often the gambit of explorers that discover a resource of difficult ore.
REE resouces are often very difficult to treat (see titanium based ores) and this is the reason NTU needed to resolve this issue prior to resource drilling.
