So noone knows of any other company that has created and patented a product as good as Unilife's?? Has anyone literally searched through the Patent archives to know this for sure. Just conscious of the $400m in R&D that BD spend every year!!
Found some interesting stuff on a company that has previously battled BD for Syringe market share. The company's link is below. In short they created a better product but took BD to court over unfair sales practises. They won and were awarded a $100m payout. But several years on they are still being kept out by BD essentially locking them out the market with long hospital contracts and other various practises. They spend most of their annual report complaining about BD.
Luckily Unilife's product is sold to the Pharma co's who have new products coming out all the time. However I'm sure BD will still manage to cause Unilife some troubles over the next few years.
