Thanks for the article. I also wonder along with Jukes how advanced the other projects are. From the other company web sites it seems they're still at the stage of investigating < 1MW pilot plants but as Jukes mentions its hard to get more info on these private companies. I feel Carnegie has a big advantage with the 250 Mil HoA with Investec, not sure if any of these other companies have any similar funding opportunities.

Also from looking at the REDP information guide available from:

    http://www.ret.gov.au/energy/energy%20programs/RenewableEnergyFund/renewable_energy_demonstration_program/Pages/RenewableEnergyDemonstrationProgram.aspx

Carnegie tick a large majority of boxes of the Merit criteria - HoA with Investec, MoU with Synergy (WA's biggest energy retailer), 100% IP ownership, various sites in WA, SA, VIC, Australian company. As I stated in another post an unknown at this stage is the demo plant is going to be under a new company jointly owned by investec+carnegie, but this is allowed under the terms of REDP. I feel competition for funds will moreso be from other green energy sources, particularly geothermal.
