There are quite a few new mines in the Mpumalanga coalfields, but most of them are low tonnage and short life. the resources there are pretty fragmented and the only large new mine moon the horizon is Anglo Coal's new Largo which will supply the Kusile power station.
The waterberg is largely undeveloped with large tracts of coal resources and will supply both station in the area and rail coal to the Mpumalanga stations.
the next coal supply would liley come from Botswaana which is just over the Limpopo from the waterberg field.
