Are you sure the collision avoidance is only in the camera as a software? Or would it be more likely to have sensors in the ring of LED's on it's body? that seems much more likely and logical, as if it was following your face and set to be a predetermined distance say 3m from you, front on collisions would be less likely than collisions from other directions..
