Please refer to my post. It states "NB - This is a total heart replacement, and not an LVAD."

As per my understanding, VCR and HTW are only good for patients suffering from Left Ventrical dysfunction. Patients that have problems with the right ventrical are not suitable for the VCR device.

Also, the CardioWest device is used as a BTT for eligible patients (please also note post by 357).

Therefore cardioWest has a niche market (total heart replacement), as well as being a competitor for Left Ventrical dysfunctions. Whether sergeons chose it over VCR/HTW for the various reason, or not, is not the issue I was bringing-up, the mere fact that it is a competitor in the market place was.
