Big companies steal patents all the time because they know smaller companies don't have the finances to be locked up in years of legal dispute. It also tends to be very blurry as to what is actually patented.
In any case dst has been around forever and you guys massively overstate it's worth. It could be knocked up in no time by silicone valley geeks.
