"The wording has been selected so carefully that when Hadrian arrives it will seem like we've copied them."

That can be a huge worry - as in America they love suing over patent infringements - hope Icon doesn't try to sue FBR as often the deeper pockets win.

Anyway there are many more positives I can add to those already mentioned (BTW finally we are getting civil and sensible discussions - keep it up).

    1. I notice Icon's perimeter walls are much wider than we use in Oz. Here they are usually 280mm for double standard clay brick - less for brick veneer or concrete blocks/bricks . The Icon walls seem at least 200mm wider For a house 200 sq m, there are about 60m of perimeter walls, and consequently they are 12sq m bigger in area. That is like the difference between a 4br house and one with a study. Extra cost - more roof area, bigger concrete slab.

    2. The Icon people seem proud of their curved walls as if everybody wants them. WRONG. Certainly a few quirky people do, or maybe just one wall, but remember most furniture that goes next to walls is straight. Try hanging a large TV, a painting or a mirror on a curved walls. And the poor joiner who has to fit wardrobes, kitchen cupboards, and the slab for a bench has to be cut from a much larger piece of stone, so it will cost more

Proof from my experience: many decades ago we were building a small local shopping centre. The architect with his innovative creative spirit decided to chop some corners off at 45 degrees. When we rented out the supermarket the tenant told us we were idiots - he wanted only a rectangular space as alleys and shelves are straight, and the chopped off corners resulted in less useable space for his shelving.

    3. Icon precision is not down to the mm, hence fitting window and door frames is not as simple.

    4. Again icon seem to be proud of the ribbed texture of the walls - but everyone who likes to keep a house clean would say those walls collect dust.

    5. It has been stated before, but really the point should be made very strongly - there already is a huge brick/block making industry that would love FBR to be more successful than Icon.

    6. One of the videos about FBR emphasised the point several times that hx uses specially designed blocks. That is not true as it can use any blocks. Unlike icon which needs to use specially designed paste with secret chemical additives - which is likely to be more expensive than mortar or concrete.
