According to today's AFR (https://www.copyright link/companies/retail/asahi-16b-buyout-of-cub-hits-accc-roadblock-20191211-p53j41) the Asahi buyout of CUB has hit a roadblock with the ACCC requiring the divestment of some cider brands and beer assets.
We've got limited debt, the evident willingness to acquire businesses where appropriate and I'm uncertain of how many competitors would have the capacity or wherewithal to buy (if possible) some of these cider brands and/or beer assets.
How often is there a buying opportunity, where the vendor is forced to sell?
Would it be a bad idea to throw our hat in the ring as a potential purchaser? What negatives can anyone identify?
