It definitely holds some weight. It provides a wonderful list of 3rd-tier connections that one could reach out to and say, "Hey, have you heard of Akida? It's low-cost, low-power, sensor agnostic, validate by other companies such as Mercedes, and best of all, it's commercially available now!"
