MegaChips LSI USA Corporation Takes a Stake in Quadric

Helps to Provide Sophisticated High-Performance IP for Edge-AI

Osaka, Japan. – January 20, 2022 – MegaChips Corporation (“Company”) announced today that its 100% subsidiary MegaChips LSI USA Corporation (“MLU”) has taken a stake in Quadric io, Inc (“Quadric”), a US-based venture company pursuing in AI inference processing IC for edge devices.

In 2020, the Company has increased capital to MLU and established a Corporate Venture Capital and are actively taking steps to launch new business fields through strategic alliances and business investments with companies that have cutting-edge technologies and ideas, mainly in the United States. This investment is the result of a series of activities.

Quadric’s processor for edge devices integrates AI and DSP and has originality to enable both preprocessing and postprocessing by itself. The capability to combine functionality and highspeed makes it possible to adopt in a wide range of industrial fields and provide flexible solutions that meet customer needs.

This investment captures a larger trend that learning and inference of big data in a cloud are moving to the edge side. The Company considers edge AI* as the core of its new business that collects customers critical data at the edge of the network in IoT and utilize them in the edge. The specific target areas are where automation and reliability are required including autonomous driving (ADAS/LiDAR*), industrial robot in the factory and logistics, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV), medical equipment, and we are going to deal with ASIC and AI module projects of AI function.
