After all competition is expected what’s important is how they differ and which is best.

"I saw the ABC news segment last night also and as a cancer researcher and drug developer, was pleased to see another increment of progress, albeit rather exaggerated by the news report! It’s important to note the early clinical trial result published by Moderna are just that;- an incremental advancement in the fight against cancer. It still has many years of clinical trials to run. A mRNA cancer vaccine is not a direct competitor to our B cell vaccines or our oncolytic virus drugs in that they have different mechanisms of action, however they could be complimentary to our platforms. · The mRNA vaccine is a personalised vaccine that only works for the individual (hence expensive) whereas our B cell vaccines work broadly across the oncology landscape. · The mRNA vaccine is a T cell vaccine, delivering 23 mRNA “instructions” for the cell to make 23 different T cell epitope small proteins which are mutations and hence the immune system (cytotoxic T cells) should recognise and attack. Whereas our vaccines induce a broad antibody (B cell vaccine) and T cell response. · The durability of T cell vaccines, whilst showing strong early phase data, have all fallen over in multiple phase 3 trials. Imugene’s B cell vaccine PD1-vaxx could be a perfect partner for Moderna’s mRNA vaccine. Especially for longer term treatment. It’s important to note we have seen just as exciting early response data from our vaccines and we are pushing forward with momentum. T cell vaccines like Moderna’s could find a niche, however we believe our approach has far broader applications across multiple cancer types."
