Competition in corporate childcare. IMO therein lies the issue. For the past eighteen months both large corporates have wrongly viewed each other as 'the competition'. The approach of both G8 and Affinity was aggressive accumulation, they failed to recognise that their competition comes from the centre in the next street, the centre close by that opens longer hours, the centre on the main road that offers cooked supper at night and opens on a Saturday morning.
That is where their competition lies.
Not recognising the strength of their competitors has affected the occupancy levels of both ( more so Affinity ). The growth will come from increased occupancy and the increased occupancy will come from knowing what their competitors are offering and bettering it.
Let's hope that the events of the past few months will see efforts to improve delivery of service, which in turn should improve occupancy. Occupancy levels are so very very important.
