GLX, BLK and STX are pursuing traditional above ground CTL. The capital cost of above ground CTL is estimated to be about US$3 Billion, then there is ongoing operating costs. By using UCG, LNC have stated that their capital cost can be reduced to about US$800 million, funded by the sale of Teresa and more money coming from the next coal tenement sale. LNC have also stated that the operating costs can be reduced from traditional above ground CTL operations. If you like traditional above ground CTL I would personally rate STX above GLX, they have good income from conventional oil and gas sales.
