Tracy, the market isnt looking the best for the near term. However there are probably opportunities in the market now or some time soon. You need to manage the risk, that is why you dont put all eggs in one basket. A great journey begins with one step, $5000 is OK. Probably not a good idea to go into the market anticipating to make a lot of money, you have to be good, lucky or both. Possibly you will do alright, if nothing else it will be a learning experience, nothing is easy.
