Thks Scalper,as soon as i read the front page of DTR i went straight to phase 3,and thought i had plenty to read which now i will as i'm over my little stress episode..
My immediate attention was drawn to CMF in its stainless steel form or aluminium form?Alarm bells start ringing half the weight and stronger than current armour..
Maybe once a year i have emailed previous ceo or spoken to cfo about non market sensitive issues.
Everytime they have given me as much time as i required,in fact its me thats starts to feel guilty or feel i am wasting their time.I guess they feel the questions are relevant.
So ,lucky bis i phoned them today and pushed the phone button for technical division.
I asked if this composite metal foam was a threat to bis,he said he hadn't heard of it,poor bugger,then i ran thru the DTR article .
After apologising maybe 3 times (ie i know u have plenty to do) before i suggested its not hard to google,he didn't hang up.
We then talked about the stainless steel form which he suggested the cost is not viable ,we talked about the aluminium form which he brought up the point of flammability something i was aware of due to falklands.
I will still keep an eye on the technology,but just a little more trivia,there is a material superior to all current submarine steel,russia used it once or twice but the cost makes it not viable,maybe a similar story to stainless CMF.
Anyway,i feel a little better.
ps did read a little on phase 3,interesting they suggest some changes may be made to the puma in order to reduce the cost as it appears its the preferred vehicle to the lynx even though it can only 6 soldiers,ie compared to lynx.
