Dunno about billions, but ten million would be fantastic. They're doing the trials with Ciba so I assume they'll get a royalty from the product.
I can't see why it wouldn't be used by oil companies as long as it doesn't cost much more than the treatment they're currently using. If it's more effective I'm sure they'll pay a small premium for it.
