As Longnow said we DO NOT HAVE COMPULSORY VOTING. We have compulsory attendance at a polling booth. Once your name is rulled off in the electoral roll you can leave and not vote. The electoral officer can't "unrule" your name and say you didn't vote.
Yes I know this is hair splitting that seems to be what turns on pollies.
Also if my memory is still working that great liberal Howard changed the law to make it illegal to tell them this.
