A friend of mine tells me that.... If you are running a bootleg XP and you allow the autoupdate to download then this is what happens. Microsoft have inserted a bit of killer code in the updates that when it recognises a serial no. that MS know is illegal then Kapow!!!! When you next boot up after this download it's goodbye XP. You will have to reformat and reinstall (AND turn off Auto-updates). Of course - if you have a legal copy then contact MicroSoft and give 'em heaps.
