Not a specific fix for your problem but some general idea;
1) In the start menu (bottom left hand corner) go-to >>programs>>accessories>>system tools>>scheduled tasks. Check that no program has added any nasty scheduled tasks that may be automatically executing on start-up?
2) Try running “DRWATSON” under advanced mode to try and see what the computer is doing on start-up. This is located in the windows directory.. if you have problems finding it, use the “find” program in the start menu (bottom left hand corner) go-to >>find>>files or folders..
3) If specific files are found to be corrupt, use the www.microsoft.com site to search out patches, fixes, etc.. excellent site and you will be amazed at what you can download from it.. saved my bacon many times. I think they may even have a diagnostic sort of a tool where you can search out specific problems..
