G'day,
Even those motherboards with the battery soldered on have a header (connection) to allow the attachment of a replacement battery.
However, I suspect that your problem is NOT your battery because if your battery was flat you would probably lose your CMOS settings and would get a warning every time you turn the PC on.
Are you in Tasmania, perhaps?
