Hi G ... I use Metastock for my charts ... I bought it in 1996 and it paid for itself in the first month ... you can have a look at some of my posts to see what can be done.
From memory either Metastock website (equis) or Paritech (I use for ASX/ETO data) has a trial download of MS you can try.
There are some free charting programs out there that some folks have had success with ... others will be more definitive than me on this.
That said, newbies need to understand that trading is going to be very difficult even for the pro's given current global market conditions and success is not guaranteed no matter what charting program is used.
