A positive COVID test is a prerequisite for accessing the antiviral drugs, but concession card holders will soon lose access to free rapid antigen tests and will have to pay full price from August 1. “Governments should be encouraging more testing, not less,” warned Dr Fei Sim, president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. It comes as NSW Health has reduced the reinfection period from 12 weeks to four, meaning people who have symptoms 28 days after their first positive test will need to test again and isolate if positive as it will be considered a reinfection.
