I have had some success.
by
1.opening up adobe reader 9
2.selecting document at the top
3.selecting accessibilty assistant
4.selecting next till last page
5.deselecting box (display PDF documents in the web browser)
PDF's now open but it was easier how it used to work. There probably is a better way.
