All good questions. In an interview given prior to the demerger, Steven Lowy did mention that he wanted to pursue a listing for OMN to allow Westfield shareholders to benefit from the work their tech division had done to date. Perhaps he felt that buying the division out, before giving shareholders the chance to realise value from that division on the open market, wouldn't be fair. Just speculation on my part, of course.
