One logical reason for announcing, they thought someone else might leak it first. They will have been through a lot of hands at the bank, hence a lot of people would know. Hard to keep things quite with that many in the know.

Regardless, I'm very glad to know. I appreciate the data feed and am quite happy to know that come production which now looks highly probable, they'll be a lot more than the figures bantered around last week...though some of those figures were pretty high :) As far as I'm concerned the company should be focussed on informing existing holders so that they can make an informed decision about their holdings.

I'm very impressed. It was a clear message that they are heading for production. IMO they are now mostly derisked and will become a force in the Carajas.
