In public hospitals: no, you're wrong. Residents, nurses etc are expected to know a croup, from a whoop from a bronchiolitic. I sort of take offense at your insinuation that all medical students are drug takers. Being a medical specialist myself, I have to disagree with you on that outsider opinion.
In Third World, you will find a lot of non-specialist health workers. You will also find they are very highly trained, especially in the very common respiratory diseases. Yes, I have worked in Malawi and JoBurg, as well as South-East Asia. They can certainly discern between those illnesses. And they certainly don't need a sound-proof box.
As for investors having a certain level of altruism, if we're being grossly generalistic with our own opinions, I'll give you mine: that's complete BS. The overwhelming majority of investors want to make money. Period.
