It is not normal for a company to try to absorb another 3 times its size. We were told at the time it was transformational and I suppose like many others I was sucked in by the story and AG 's previous success.But personal experience in this area told me how difficult it is to do even an accretive takeover successfully let alone a transformational one particularly when the cards are stacked against you in a foreign country. It was madness as it turned out. What I cannot understand is how they ignored the warning signs e.g proposed changes to legislation , analysts' views of the PSD Division when it was part of Quindell. These columns also mention other reasons for extra caution.
