It's good news. I dont think you will see a proliferation of this technology across different service providers. Aussie Post deliver most of the amazon and o/s online sales anyway.

This technology at the post office may actually be used by other delivery companies under contractual arrangements with the post. Eg DHL comes to my suburb, cant deliver 10 of the 50 parcels cause punters arent home. They head down the post office, scan parcels, place them in the lockers and it generates an email sms for the punters. DHL saves on redelivery and pays a fee to Aust Post for the use of the locker.

I just dont see, Toll lockers at 7/11, DHL at ColesExpress/Shell and Aust Post at the Post Office.

Of course the US market may well be very different.
