Progressives in the west seem to want things that many communist countries had, sharing of wealth, less individualism and perceived fairness, they want collectivism on many fronts but they think they can have it by letting everybody and every group have individual and or minority rights.
They generally have less and want everyone else to share more.
They want a type of collectivism but it cant be from things like monarchs or religion, the only kind of large institutions they want are large govt.
They essentially create breakdowns of societies by not having holistic views of how a good society functions but at the same time seem to think they are the ones who care most about people....
Conservatives in the west on the other hand are usually pro monarchies, religion but for small govt. Who is the govt to tell me how to live my life on one hand unless it suits them. They aren't generally into the rights of minority groups but on many levels the rights to individual freedom of speech. They also seem to be unwilling to share their wealth much via higher taxes.
They essentially create breakdowns aswell to such emphasis as strong personal responsibility, its you yourself responsible not others for how you end up.
In my mind both conservative thinking and progressive thinking that isnt a strong combination of the two leads only to us being a wealthy country with poor community, unlike the east who are poor but with better community,
The individualism of bother progressives or those on the left generally and conservatives or those on the right has gone so far out societies appear to be breaking down and rather than meet at a sweet spot in the middle for whats bets for overall society we are too selfish a culture nowadays and until we have a real prime minster with leadership and focus on community and society our happiness is only going to decrease.
