Makes me cringe to see the unions and mgt strip the brand back.

Personally, don't think AJ needs anymore encouragement to up his salary and bonuses.

It's all about timing executive increases.
For example VDM picked up a new CEO with a big salary increase whilst the company was struggling and laying off workers. Hardly the time for increases, it's about timing.

As far as airline travel being "commoditised", this is true in many ways, however a Toyota Camry and an Audi S8 still get from a to b, in reasonable comfort.
People pay more for certain brands & icons and then some don't care, because it's not their money.

(Many companies couldn't careless about spending shareholders investment prudently, and will pickup business class on premium carriers.)
