The Queen has approved the posthumous award of the Victoria Cross for Ordernary Seaman Edward 'Teddy' Sheean.

Teddy helped sailors disembark their destroyed ship then returned to his gun to provide protective and covering fire to the 13 Japanese aircraft who continued to engage with the ship and its crew.
Teddy went down with the ship, strapped to his post.
