This is concerning me greatly, we have indications of acceptance of a foreign manufacturer associated with Cordura producing a new NY/CO blend, not 50:50 with FR.

No, what we have is indications of a foreign manufacturer associated with Cordura (i.e. Carrington) producing a new FR fabric for workwear, Flametougher 280AS, which has the following composition:

Cotton 79% /Antistatic 1% /CORDURA® nylon 6,6 20%

Flametougher 280AS isn’t a military fabric, and its weight is 280gsm.

Cordura’s traditional 50/50 NyCo (Mil-Spec) weighs 220gsm.

We were told that DoD decided it wanted FR applied to something even lighter weight than 50/50 NyCo. I speculated that the lighter weight fabric could be Cordura’s latest fabric, NyCo Extreme, which has been tweaked to 45% cotton/55% INVISTA T420HT nylon 6,6, and weighs just 180gsm.
