Conroy is just plain confused about the telecommunications side of his job - along with at least the 2 previous holders of this office. He's up to the politics though.
On a slightly different tack - has anyone seen comment in the press of late along the lines that an NBN - as advertised by Ruddcon - will somehow deliver cheaper broadband? Am I alone in thinking that if we spend $43bn+ on the thing, punters like us will get it cheap? Back at the start of the Sol Trujillo era, Telstra proposed to go it alone with a national bb network with a requirement of an 18% ROI - costings were in the order of $5bn - and ACCC canned it - too expensive or something like that. Quite how Ruddcon's $43bn offering comes out cheaper is beyond me.
