One of the most widely used models is called the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF).

It's in continual development and thousands of climate scientists use it and continuously refine it.

For example, my two best friends (both climatologists) used it extensively in their PhD's.

They're both pretty smart people (and DON'T think it's broken) but you seem to think it is.
