Just to add to that.
Imagine you owned 10,000 shares @ 10c. Total value is $1,000
Then they do a 1:10 consolidation.
Now you own 1,000 shares @ $1. Total value is still $1,000
All other things being equal, Market Cap remains unchanged.
As Whiskey has pointed out its not quite that simple (penny stock status etc) but thats the essence of it.
Just to add to that. Imagine you owned 10,000 shares @ 10c....
