Does anybody know here how consolidation works when the shares...

Does anybody know here how consolidation works when the shares on issues are reduce by just say: 12:1 ., 20:1.I read in here poster saying that the share will increase by a factor of 12.Then if the SP of MNM is 0.01 cent after consolidation would be 0.12cent of course with less amount of shares for the sharesholder. Why got to be 12 times higher? .Thanking in advance if somebody can illuminate me.
