This railway is a pipedream without big business. Take a look at the adelaide to darwin rail. It took over 100 years to complete. The company the raves about a Melbourne to NT rail link are train spotters who have been beating the drum for rail everywhere for the last 20 years.
I personally see the rail line starting at Wonarah and finishing at Tennant Creek ... end of story. If you want it the go do it yourself, Twiggy style.
