Tragedy ... Oday El Ibrahimy is distraught at the loss of his relatives.
OVERWHELMED with grief, 25-year-old Madian El Ibrahimy collapsed when he was told yesterday his young family had died.
His older brother Oday El Ibrahimy, who lives in Auburn, said Madian had been taken to the detention centre's hospital, where he was being kept under observation.
A tearful Mr El Ibrahimy said he feared his younger brother would kill himself and he called on the government to release him into his care in Sydney. ''I can't eat,'' he said. ''I can't sleep. Two days, no eating nothing. I'm not sleeping. I'm worried about my brother.''
Oday's brother Madian in Iraq with his wife Zaman and son Nazar.
The young El Ibrahimy family were among more than 30 people who died - including 13 men, nine women, four children and four babies - when their fishing boat crashed into Christmas Island's rocky coastline in high seas on Wednesday. END
