It is no surprise to learn of the close links between the African National Congress and Genorah Resources (Pty) Ltd.
For example, Sharif Pandor, a Nkwe Platinum Non-Executive Director is also chairman of Genorah Resources (Pty) Ltd and a director of Blue Nightingale 709 Trading.
His wife, Naledi Pandor (nee Matthews) was elected to parliament in 1994 and was appointed Chairperson of The National Council of Provinces by President Thabo Mbeki in 1999. She served as Minister of Education from 2004 until 2009 under Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe. She oversaw a complete overhaul of the Education system under her tenure. She was appointed Minister of Science and Technology in May 2009 by President Jacob Zuma.
Her grandfather, Z.K. Matthews, a respected anti-apartheid teacher and reformist, was a member and Cape President of the African National Congress, he was also one of the accused, along with Nelson Mandela, in the 1957 Treason Trial.
To say the least, the company is politically well connected.
