Ah. So it's just resource companies now ?
So you don't think we should own all our utilities companies then ?
Don't get me wrong . l think we could've done a much better job . Even just getting a better royalties deal .
Look at the bin fire that is LNG exports. Not only did we get shafted on the royalties, now we have a shortage of domestic gas on the east coast !
Governments can't do things by themselves. They need to invite outside groups with expertise .
Other wise you end up with behemoths like the old SEC in Victoria.
What we need is better government management that does better deals but more importantly we need better engagement from the electorate.
lf the public would just bother to pay more attention to our resources rather than watching the footy we'd be much better off.
When you look at the resources Australia has vs the population, we are crazy rich compared to other countries.
With some careful management, Australia could have the best living standards in the world. Not via some crazy communism model or a socialist experiment . By just making informed decisions .
l go back to the east coast LNG example . When that industry was being developed people were asking for a domestic reserve . Especially business groups . They were ignored .
The damage done to business and the poor from high gas prices has been enormous .
Once again it gets back to the electorate and their level of engagement .
